Call of the Cuckoos Tent, Glasgow

The Call of the Cuckoos Tent presented their last film show of the season at the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall on 2nd October. Honoured guests were Christine and Martin Craig from the Blockheads Tent of Edinburgh and Iain Wilson, also from the Blockheads. Fra Diavolo generated much laughter, as did two classic shorts.

Iain Wilson has added some great new  projection equipment to film shows at the Edinburgh Blackheads Tent's meetings.

Grand Sheik Charlie Lewis and his tent welcome all guests, so why not pop in?

Nicholas says

In Radio Times (28.09.24. -  04.10.24) actor Nicholas Lyndhurst, who is living in Los Angeles, is quoted:

I’ve enjoyed going to see where Stan Laurel lived. He was always a hero of mine. Buster Keaton’s studio is literally down the road, too. I often think that if it wasn’t for Laurel and Keaton, we probably wouldn’t be here now. They were pioneers. I very much wanted to pay my respects.

The Flying Deuces was in television on 3rd October. Here is what David Parkinson said in the same edition of Radio Times:

Laurel & Hardy Museum, Germany

For the information of all people with a penchant for good humor. After the opening of the Laurel & Hardy Museum in Walder Kotten last weekend, with guests also from England and Switzerland, questions reach us after the next opening. Basically, we open the museum every weekend by appointment for groups of 5 people or more. Request by mail or telephone will suffice, and Stan & Ollie are ready with their ingenious antics. I like to invite guests.

Ten freak endings

Laurel and Hardy have their legs broken off and tied around their necks in Going Bye-Bye!

Stan is miniaturised and pops out of an egg in A-Haunting We Will Go.

Ollie turns into a monkey in Dirty Work.

The Boys end up looking and sounding like each other in Thicker Than Water.

Ollie “comes back” as a horse in The Flying Deuces.

Stan and Ollie have their heads twisted around in The Live Ghost.

Stan is sucked down the bath’s plug-hole in Come Clean.

Our heroes are turned into a dwarf and a spindly giant in The Bohemian Girl.

They are actually killed in The Midnight Patrol.

Stan balloons out of shape after drinking some water in Below Zero.
