Year Two BluRay discs

I've finally had the time to get my thoughts on the quite wonderful Year Two BluRay uploaded to the website. In case you don’t know, this release features beautifully restored versions of all of the Laurel and Hardy output from their second year together - 1928.

You can read my thoughts here and I sincerely hope that if you don't yet have the set, my scribbles might just persuade you to take the plunge. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!

Ulverston Museum

After a month of spring cleaning in the good old winter time, the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston is officially open to the public again.

Statue gathering

The Beau Chumps are gathering at Stan's Statue at 1.00pm on Sunday 23rd February. We're still hoping for Sons from elsewhere in the country to visit and it's all free. There will be a commemoration, a reading of 'God Bless all Clowns' and some flowers.

In addition to Stan's great nephew, Keith Woods, we'll also be delighted to welcome our youngest member Jessica Butler - daughter of Patrick and Sara who will be just over 9 months old.

There's a link to an article on the North Shields 800 website and we're expecting the press on the day, which will hopefully drive a little publicity.

The statue was unveiled on 29 March 1992: original Beau Chump, Robbie Crawford, Bill Cubin, Nancy Wardell (Stan’s cousin) and Mrs and Mr Huntley-Jefferson Woods (Stan’s nephew) just after the statue was unveiled. Bill was also presented with a plaque – a replica of the one on the plinth – which still resides in the Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston. The statue is in Laurel Park, Dockwray Square in North Shields.
